Everton Plot £25m Summer Swoop for Swansea City Star Gylfi Sigurdsson

Everton are planning yet another raid on Premier League strugglers Swansea City this summer with a £25m bid expected to come in for the Swans' talismanGylfi Sigurdsson, according toreports.

The Toffees signed Swansea's captain, Ashley Williams, last summer in a £12m deal and it seems as though they have no qualms about taking their best player again one year later.

The Icelandic star has been a shining light in an otherwise disappointing season for Swansea, and his performances have grabbed the attention of Everton boss Ronald Koeman.

Sigurdsson has scored nine and provided 10 assists as Swansea attempt to steer clear of the relegation dogfight.

The 27-year-old signed for Swansea on loan in 2012, with the deal being made permanent that summer in an £8m move from Tottenham.

And it's said that he's keen to have a go at playing for a big club again, despite failing to impress during his spell at Spurs.

If Sigudsson joins Everton this summer it could signal the end for midfield man Ross Barkley, who would be in direct competition with the Iceland international.

However, Koeman insists:"There are talks planned. I don't think they have started yet.

"Those players who finished the contract after one year, he's one of them and we will do everything to keep Ross and sign a new contract."

Wayne Rooney and Gylfi Sigurdsson could both potentially be in Everton colours next year, according to @DeanJonesBR: https://t.co/JkvK6UYV1m pic.twitter.com/GphTDP186X

Another player who has been linked with a move to Goodison Park is former academy star Wayne Rooney, whose playing time has become limited at Manchester United this season.

Koeman is open to a deal for the 31-year-old:"In my opinion he's [Rooney] one of the players who can make Everton stronger than they are now.

"It's all about what the player likes, what Manchester United need to do and we are not involved in that project.

"Every player who we feel can make the team stronger is welcome at Everton."
