Everton Star Admits He Felt 'Inferior as a Professional' After Chelsea Drubbing

''It's not what you look for. It really hurts.''

So admitsTom Cleverley - as per theMirror-after Everton's5-0 loss to Chelsea, whichalso left himfeeling 'embarrassed' and 'inferior'.

In fairness, to simply label the defeat as a 'loss' is being both kind to Everton and doing Chelsea an injustice. This was an annihilation.

The former Manchester United man had to suffer the full 90 minutes at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, and after it was all over, he had the following to declare:

"It hurts. You feel inferior as a professional," Cleverley told reporters after the match.

"That's not what you work for. It really does hurt. Embarrassment? I would probably say that, yeah."

Ranking the defeat as one of the lowest points of his career, he vowed that he and his equally frustratedteammates would come back stronger.

"It's a bit of a wake-up call. We've not been playing our best football," Cleverley, 27, added.

"We know that wasn't good enough and we deserved what we got. It's a shame we've got two weeks now before our next game to put it right, but we've got to give something back to the fans who travelled down.

"I'm fully confident this can only motivate us and push us on now."
