Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin: U20 WC glory can be my launching pad

Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin is determined to build on last season's senior breakthrough.

Calvert-Lewin kicked off preseason with Everton a world champion after winning the U20 World Cup with England this summer.

Speaking to the club's official website, he said: "I'm looking to pick up from where I left off in the World Cup and take that confidence into my performances here.

"The last year has gone really fast for me. I think I've improved a lot and I'm still looking to improve a lot more.

"I think I speak for us all when I say we want to take our confidence from the World Cup into our club performances, and I think we look like we've done that so far in pre-season.

"I think we've all built up a good relationship with each other off the back of the World Cup and it's nice to be playing for our club together now.

"With us being in the Europa League, there's going to be lots of games and hopefully a lot of opportunities to play, so we need to make sure we are on top of our game and look to impress.

"Then, hopefully, we will get opportunities and when we do, we have to take them."
