Everton Youngster Glad to Be Fit Again After Year Out With Knee Injury

Published on: 10 November 2016

Everton defender Tyias Browning has revealed his joy at making a successful return to football following almost a year out with a knee injury.

The 22-year-old made five Premier League appearances last season, but required key hole surgery last year and has been on the sidelines ever since. However, after making two45 minute appearances for Everton's U23 side in the Premier League Cup and Checkatrade Trophy, Browning toldEverton's official club websitehow glad he was to be returning from the layoff.

My knee feels good. I feel a little bit stiff but it's brilliant to get some minutes, Browning stated.

It's been a really tough time, but I feel like I'm coming out the other end now and it's a good feeling to be back out on the pitch playing football.

[David Unsworth] has been quite cautious with me at the moment, because I've had so long out - but he's happy that I'm back and he wants me to push on from here.

Browning described the journey back from injury as a 'roller-coaster of emotions', praising the work of the club's physios in getting him fit.

I'm not too sure how far away I am away from full match fitness. I've got a lot of football to play with Under 23s and a lot to catch up on - I'm just taking it one step at a time. I've had a lot of help from the club and rehab has gone really well, so now it's just about getting the minutes under my belt.

It's been a roller-coaster of emotions. The physios have kept me going along the way, kept me confident and looked after me very well. Obviously, I have to give a big thank you to them. They couldn't wait to get rid of me, so I'm sure they're pleased I'm back out playing as well!
