Every player is welcome but must prove their worth - Black Stars assistant coach George Boateng tells new players

Black Stars assistant coach George Boateng has welcomed the new players who have completed their nationality switch to play for Ghana however he has urged them to prove their worth.

Coach Otto Addo named Tariq Lamptey (Brighton), Inaki Williams (Athletic Bilbao), Stephan Ambrosius (Karlsruher), Ransford-Yeboah Konigsdorffer and Mohammed Salisu in his 29-man squad for the upcoming international friendly matches against Brazil and Nicaragua.

Ghana will play Brazil on Friday, September 23, at Stade Oceane in Le Harve- France before taking on Nicaragua at Estadio Francisco Artes Carrasco in Lorca, Spain on Tuesday, September 27, 2022.

We are trying to build a team with quality ahead of the World Cup in Qatar and every player is welcome but must prove their worth," Boateng told Asempa FM.

"The new players who have completed their nationality switch to play for Ghana will not be automatic starters.

"They must fight for their place in the team because that is a team we want to build. They will not walk into the team.

"Every player will and must fight for a place in the team," he added.

Ghana have been placed in Group H of the World Cup and will open their campaign against Portugal before taking on South Korea and Uruguay.
