Everyone must play their roles for fans to return to stadia - George Afriyie

Okyeman Planners owner, George Afriyie, says everyone has a huge responsibility to play if fans are to refill stadia in the local league and cup games.

Recently, it has been difficult for Hearts of Oak, Asante Kotoko, and other Ghana Premier League teams to draw crowds to their games. Even the two most popular clubs in the nation struggle to draw over 5,000 spectators per game.

Addressing the issue in an interview with Asempa FM, the former Ghana Football Association Vice President believes if everyone plays their roles well, fans will return to the stadia.

"If we all come together, and everyone is playing their roles, things will change.

"Clubs will have to play their part, supporters will have to play their part, supporters unions, individuals, corporate bodies, the media, the GFA, everyone must play their role.

"We all have a huge responsibility to play in this.

"As for the interest, it is there. Anyone who says interest in our football has diminished is telling lies but there are things that are going on that is not helping matters; that is why people will not come to the stadium with their kids and wives."
