Ex-Arsenal Starlet Open to Switch to Bayern Munich Despite Only Joining Werder Bremen in Summer

Former Arsenal youth prospectSerge Gnabry has opened the door over a possible shock move to Bayern Munich, after he enjoyed a dream debut for the German national side.

The former Arsenal starlet bagged a hat-trick in the 8-0 thrashing of San Marino during the recent international break and, despite only moving to Werder Bremen in the summer, is already talking up his chance of switching to the Bundesliga champions in the future.

Speaking to reporters after the match, with his quotes transcribed by FourFourTwo, Gnabry was asked about whether he thought he could one day play for Bayern.

He replied: "I could definitely see myself at Bayern Munich," Gnabry told reporters.

"I am the kind of player who likes a challenge."

The 21-year-old was in fine form for Joachim Löw's side in their World Cup qualifier away to minnows San Marino last Friday, and capped a fine display in his first ever senior appearance with a hat-trick to leave fans, pundits and fellow international team-mates excited about the young star's national teamfuture.

Fellow Germany international Jerome Boateng, in particular, was left in awe of Gnabry's performance, and the Bayern star admitted that he could see the wideman play for his club some time in the future.

He said: "Gnabry has developed superbly, he is an amazing player. I think he has what it takes to play for Bayern. I hope he will stay healthy, he has the potential to achieve anything."

Gnabry has also already adapted well to life in the Bundesliga, since he completed a £4.25m switch to Bremen on transfer deadline day, with four goals and one assist registered in just nine appearances so far this term.

His form for his new club has led to some fans mocking Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger for not giving Gnabry more of a chance to impress at the Emirates.

West Bromwich Albion boss Tony Pulis has also come in for flak after he failed to hand the left winger more of an opportunity during a loan spell at the Hawthorns last season, with Gnabry handed just two cameo appearances during his time in the Midlands.

Both managers had called Gnabry's professionalism and desire into question during his time at the Gunners and Baggies and, while his summer move may have come as a wake up call to the talented attacker, both Wenger and Pulis appear to have been left with egg on their face following Gnabry's good start to life in Germany's top flight.
