Ex-Ashgold defender Richard Osei Agyemang laments poor salaries in the Ghana Premier League

Former Ashgold defender, Richard Osei Agyemang, has asserted that no player in the Ghana Premier League is financially secure, attributing this to the lack of a well-defined salary structure in the league.

In an interview with Kessben TV, Agyemang expressed his concerns about the ongoing player exodus, which he believes is a direct result of inadequate salaries.

Agyemang lamented that players are compelled to seek opportunities in less renowned football nations due to the meager wages in Ghana. This sentiment is echoed by other players in the league who have criticized the low salary levels and disorganized salary structure. The situation has led to players hastily accepting contracts from lesser-known leagues outside Ghana.

“Elsewhere, the signing-on-fees of players in Ghana are like the salaries of their players. They should pay the players here well for them to stay. At least players should be earning around GHC10,000," he said.

“There is no player in the Ghana Premier League who is rich. There is no one, I tell you. I dare anyone to come out,” he added.
