Ex-Blue Claims Unused Chelsea Duo Could Be Revelations for Blues Over Hectic Christmas Period

Former Chelsea winger Pat Nevin believes out of favours stars Michy Batshuayi and Cesc Fabregas could prove to be revelations during the Christmas period.

Chelsea have been led by the impressive formof Diego Costa and Eden Hazard during their ascent to the top of the Premier League, and Nevin believes the likes of Batshuayi and Fabregas could fill the void left by Chelsea's first-team players should Antonio Conte's squad be hit by injury.

"At the moment Chelsea still haven't found out just how good Michy Batshuayi will be with a run in the side. He might be spectacular, a revelation even," Nevin wrote in his column forChelsea's official club website.

"Also one of our so-called ˜back-up players' Cesc Fabregas has been doing quite well when he has been brought into the side of late, and I am sure you have noticed he does tend to link up pretty well with Diego.

Nevin also noted other squad members who have been without game time recently due to the form shown by those starting for the south west London side.

"And that's before you even start to think about Branislav, JT, Willian and Oscar who because they haven't been starting during this fabulous run, would be considered elsewhere as back-up players," Nevin continued.

"It is as ludicrous to think of any of them in that way as it is to think of Cesc like that."

Batshuayi has featured regularly as a substitute, scoring once and contributing an assist, while Fabregas has impressed during cameo appearances, setting up Diego Costa for his winner against West Brom at the weekend.
