Former Black Stars assistant coach Ibrahim Tanko has expressed his readiness to assist the Black Stars technical team when called upon to help to prepare before and during the 2022 FIFA World Cup tournament in Qatar.

Ghana sealed qualification over Nigeria and has been paired in Group H against Portugal, Uruguay and South Korea.

It is believed the Ghana FA and Dortmund have reached an agreement to release Otto Addo until 2023 which means the latter will lead the Black Stars in both the AFCON qualifiers and the World Cup.

Speaking in an interview with Sylvester Ntim of Bryt FM on his availability to assist the team, particularly, in scouting opponents when called upon, the former assistant coach of Cameroon said he cannot turn his back on Ghana and has avail himself.

“It’s difficult to say no to Ghana, so I am always available. I mostly speak to the technical team led by Otto Addo and anyone knows I played with him at Dortmund. I also started my coaching career with him, so Otto is a good friend and we always get in touch”

“We have to pray for the team but it will be prudent for us to lower our expectations so players won’t be pressured” he added.

Ibrahim Tanko served as an assistant of the Black Stars between 2017 to 2019.
