Former Vice President of the Ghana Football Association, George Afriyie has expressed absolute confidence in Black Stars new coach Chris Hughton.

The Ghana FA appointed Chris Hughton last month to replace Otto Addo who resigned after the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Hughton will be assisted by George Boateng and Mas Ud Didi Dramani, who also served under Otto Addo during his reign.

In an interview with 3Sports, the former Ghana FA Presidential candidate said he is proud of the current technical team of the Black Stars and is confident they can deliver.

“Yes, I have confidence in Chris, the assistant coach George Boateng who is a personal friend I know him and he is very good”

“I have worked with Didi Dramani and I was one of the first people to tell him to take a shot at a big team, you are good, I have seen you at lower level football, women football but take a shot at a top team, Didi’s question was, Chairman, who is going to employ me and I said I will recommend him so I recommended him to Dr KK Sarpong and I he was hired by Kotoko”

“I’m so proud that these people are the ones managing the Black Stars as technical men and I have every confidence in them to deliver” he said.

Hughton's first game in charge of the Black Stars will be against Angola in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
