Ex-Ghana goalkeeper Fatau Dauda has explained why his move to Asante Kotoko fell through.

The 36-year-old who is currently a free agent after leaving Ghana Premier League side, Legon Cities came close to joining the Porcupine Warriors before the start of the second round of the league campaign but the move took a nosedive.

Speaking on Angel TV, the former Ashantigold shot stopper disclosed his move to Kotoko did not materialize because of a some session of the club fans.

“I’m an experienced goalkeeper and my presence could’ve done a lot for the team even in terms of serving as a motivation for some of the players. But I think there was some displeasure from certain quarters of the supporters of the club. If you look at how important club fans are, you can’t underrate that,”

“So it ended up that we had to shelve the plans in order not to spark any unrest within the supporters,” he added.

Dauda was a member of the Black Stars 2014 FIFA World Cup squad.
