Ex-Ghana midfielder Mark Edusei calls for proper plan for Black Stars

Former Ghana international Mark Edusei has shared hoe the Black Stars can restored lost glory.

The West African powerhouse has struggled to excel at tournaments in recent times, suffering early elimination at both AFCON 2021 and World Cup 2022 respectively.

Ghana has failed to win a continental trophy for over three decades despite coming close in 2010 and 2015.

In an interview, the ex-Italian Serie A player advocated for a proper plan to aid the Black Stars.

“Other countries have made a lot of investment in their game, they have their programs and plans but we don’t have those plans for our national team, so until we start developing our football, it will be difficult for us” he said.

Meanwhile, the Black Stars will take on Angola in a doubleheader AFCON qualifier this month.

The four-time African champions will play host to Angola on March 23 at the Baba Yara Stadium before the reverse fixture in Luanda on March 27.

The Black Stars lead Group E of the qualifiers with four points, followed by Angola who are also on four points before Central African Republic and Madagascar follow in that order.

As well as playing in Switzerland and for several clubs in Italy including Sampdoria and Torino, Mark Edusei also had a loan spell in Portugal and a stint in Israel.

He had stints with Al-Ahli, Hapoel Petah Tikva, Lecce, Cosenza, Sampdoria, Catania and Bellinzona.
