Former Hearts of Oak Managing Director, Neil Armstrong Mortagbe, has expressed hope that steps will be taken to prevent a recurrence of the difficulties endured by stakeholders of the club in the the forthcoming season.

Mortagbe conveyed this sentiment in an interview with Citi Sports ahead of Hearts' upcoming match against Real Tamale United on Friday, September 15, at the Alhaji Aliu Mahama Stadium in Tamale.

Reflecting on Hearts' underwhelming performance in the 2022-2023 campaign, which saw the Phobia club finish in 12th place out of 18 teams in the Ghana Premier League standings, the former MD expressed his bewilderment about how the past season unfolded.

He emphasized the need for a thorough investigation and self-reflection within both the club's leadership and the playing and technical staff to pinpoint the underlying issues.

Mortagbe hopes that remedial actions will be implemented to ensure that the painful experiences of the past season will not be repeated.

“Those who are close to the action who probably would conduct a thorough investigation and an introspection within both leadership of the club and the playing body and the technical team would be in the best position to say what went wrong and hopefully take remedial measures to ensure that the pain that we all went through this year we will not go through that pain again.”
