Former Hearts of Oak midfielder, Emmanuel Nettey has expressed worry over the health issues affecting Legon Cities FC goalkeeper William Essu.

The player has been trending on social media after appealing for support to address a health issue that has left him in the house ahead of the start of the 2023/24 football season.

In a release from Legon Cities FC, the club appealed to the general public and the media to be circumspect in the reportage of Essu's health, adding that efforts are being made to help the player.

“Our attention has been drawn to pictures of our goalkeeper William Essu circulating on various social media platforms with discussions on traditional media platforms.

“We plead with the media and general public to be circumspect in the reportage of Essu's health as all efforts are being made to address the player's current situation,” a release from the Communication Division of the club said.

Reacting to this release, Emmanuel Nettey has expressed shock at the alleged neglect of Legon Cities FC.

In a post on Twitter, the former Hearts of Oak midfielder said, “Wow, just wow, a player under contract, and your attention was drawn when his pics were on social media about his illness and the league starts over the weekend, so his absence didn’t matter cos you had another player to play in his position.”
