Ex-Reds star Owen: Liverpool\'s 2013/14 attack better than Klopp\'s

Many Liverpool fans are claiming the club's current strike force is the best the club has boasted in quite some time.

Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino are lighting up games, with the Reds smashing in goals in most games they play.

With a 7-0 win in the Champions League over Spartak Moscow, Liverpool completed a record 23 goals in the group stage. No English club has ever scored more goals in the Champions League group stage, with Manchester United's 21 a previous record.

However, Michael Owen believes that the current strike force is inferior to the one that Brenden Rodgers boasted in 2013/2014.

The ex-Reds striker claims the trio of Daniel Sturridge, Louis Suarez and Raheem Sterling was better.

"I'll stick my neck on the block," Owen said. "I think that the Sturridge, Sterling and Suarez was just off the scale.

"I mean it was unbelievable. Going to Anfield you literally got so excited every single time, unbelievable."

The lack of a prolific scorer among the current Liverpool strike force is a negative in Owen's view.

"This group of players are amazing, but you're not going to get a player who's going to score 30 goals in this group," he said.
