Footballghana.com can exclusively report that Ghanaian international Akwasi Asante has sealed his transfer to Gloucester City.

The experienced striker has been in talks with the English semi-professional association football club based in Hempsted, Gloucester for a while now and has finally inked the dotted line.

The 27-year-old is joining the club from Chester City and is expected to lead the lines for the team when the new season commences.

“In terms of what he has brought to the football club, his record is outstanding. He couldn’t have had a better start with his hat-trick on debut when he was initially on loan. We had him on our radar at Salford City before his move to Grimsby Town and ever since we kept our eye on him.

“As a football club, we are not yet in a position to speak to any player with regards to next season and beyond and Akwasi has taken the decision to explore other options", Chester City manager Anthony Johnson said in an interview to confirm the departure of Akwasi Asante.

A statement from Gloucester City has also said, "We are excited to announce our third new signing with striker Akwasi Asante joining from Chester".
