EXCLUSIVE: "I was so much happy"- Laryea Kingston on Inaki Williams switching nationality

Ex-Ghana international Laryea Kingston has expressed his delight after Athletic Bilbao forward Inaki Williams made an international switch from Spain to Ghana.

Williams joins four other players including Tariq Lamptey, Stephen Ambrosius, Ransford-Yeboah Konigsdorffer and Patric Pfeiffer in committing to the Black Stars ahead of the upcoming AFCON qualifiers and 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The 28-year-old was capped in a friendly match for Spain under Vicente del Bosque back in 2016, earning a single 30-minute cameo against Bosnia in a 3-1 victory. As it was only a friendly, he is allowed to switch his allegiance.

"Inaki has done very well in the Spanish league. He's played for every well. He's terrorised all the big teams in the Spanish La Liga," Kingston said as quoted by Footballghana.com.

"When you mention his name, he's made it so bringing him to join the team will boost the team a lot and not only him, Tariq Lamptey and the others."

"We all have to convince them to come and play for us. They are playing well. They are Ghanaians like what we did with Kevin-Prince Boateng to come and play in 2010 World Cup, I think it's something that will help us a lot," the 41-year-old added.

"I was so much happy when I heard the news. We have to make it happen. Mohammed Salisu is also doing tremendously well. All those players have to come on board so that we will have a solid team to go to the World Cup in Qatar."

All the five players could have the chance to go to the World Cup in Qatar this November if selected.

The Black Stars have been placed in Group H for the World Cup together with Portugal, Uruguay and South Korea.
