News is emerging from Manchester City that midfielder Fabian Delph is nearing a return for the Premier Leagueside.

Delph, whose time at the club has been hindered by fitness setbacks, is hoping that his long term injuries are going to be a thing of the past.

Speaking to theclub's official websiteDelph explained, "It has been a frustrating time for me, since I've been here I haven't really been able to get going from an injury point of view but I'm lucky."

The26-year-oldwas also quick to acknowledge his teammates and the City medical team's support they've given him, whilst he was stuck on the sidelines.

"I have a great medical team looking after me at City, good friends in the squad who've kept me going “ especially Gael Clichy who has kept me motivated throughout - and I'm not too far away now.

"I had an operation a month ago and I'm probably a fortnight away from being fit so I'm excited about getting back in training and being among the lads again."

The England international described how an operation was needed in order for him to get back to full fitness.

"The tendons in my groin were pulling against the bone and it's an issue I've had for about eight months and it got to a stage where it was better to resolve it rather than play on," Delph explained.

"It ended with an operation that involves cutting the tendons away and that seems to have solved the problem.

Whether the midfielder will be a part of Guardiola's plans will remain to be seen, but Delph explains he's not jealous of his teammates getting time on the pitch.

"It was very pleasing for me because I was kicking every ball with them, feeling every challenge and celebrating every goal and it was a great moment for me because I was in the dressing room before and afterwards and I felt very much involved in everything."

Delph has estimated it will be two weeks before he is involved within a match day squad but he says he's more thanready to challenge for a first team place again.

I'm doing fantastic and I'm way ahead of schedule and ready to kick on and get my season really upand running."
