FC Barcelona 'B' are set to complete a sensational swoop for Ghana U-23 defender Gideon Mensah in the on-going summer transfer window, Footballghana.com can report.

According to Spanish tabloid SPORT.ES, the Barcelona 'B' are currently on the transfer market looking for a left-back and have opted to sign the 21-year-old to augment their squad for the 2019/20 season.

Barcelona are in advanced negotiations with Red Bull Salzburg over a season-long loan move for the Ghanaian with an option to buy.

The 21-year-old has been on the radar of the Spanish side following his outstanding performance in the Austrian Bundesliga with Red Bull Salzburg.

Gideon joined Austrian Bundesliga giants in 2016 from Ghana Premier League side West African Football Academy (WAFA SC).

He signed a long-term contract extension with Red Bull Salzburg after returning from a successful loan spell at Strum Graz.

If he joins the Catalonia side, he will become the second Ghanaian footballer to play for FC Barcelona after Kevin-Prince Boateng who joined them on a short loan deal last season.
