A delegation from Ghana Premier League champions FC Samartex paid a courtesy call on President Nana Akufo-Addo to seek his blessings before commencing their campaign in the CAF Champions League.

In return, the President also committed to providing financial assistance to the club as they prepare for their inaugural campaign in Africa.

The team, based in Samreboi, visited the President at the Jubilee House in Accra on Wednesday, seeking his blessings and support ahead of their continental challenge.

Accompanying the delegation were Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif, CEO Richard Nsenkyire, Business Development Manager Paul Anyaba, and other officials.

Samartex secured their place in Africa's premiere club competition by winning the Ghana Premier League title, defeating Accra Lions.

"Our aim is to seek your blessing by showing you the cup. Over the years, we've noticed that teams heading to Africa often lack financial backing," explained Nsenkyire during the visit.

The club is scheduled to face Cameroon's Victoria United in the first round of the preliminary stage. Hoping to replicate Medeama SC's success in reaching last season's group stage, Samartex aims to progress further in the tournament's knockout rounds.
