FC St. Pauli: Daniel-Kofi Kyereh shoots into focus

Published on: 29 September 2021

Daniel-Kofi Kyereh did not score six games in a row, but the 25-year-old was also a top performer at FC St. Pauli during this phase. Now on Saturday, Kyereh put an end to his personal sluggishness in the 3-1 victory of the Kiez kickers at Karlsruher SC and after eight days of play, thanks to six assists, already has eight scorer points.

Those in charge of FC St. Pauli can long-term congratulate themselves on the Bundesliga transfer from Kyereh, which took place in the summer of 2020 and which at that time could even be pledged free of charge from SV Wehen Wiesbaden to Millerntor. Already in his first season, the native Ghanaian scored nine goals and nine assists, and was used in all of his engagements.

Kyereh's contract ends in 2023

Because Kyereh played really well in the second half of last season, speculations about the interest of other clubs in the summer Transfernews Deutschland came as no surprise. Specifically, according to a report, the Transfer Insider of the "Bild" is said to have asked the 1. FSV Mainz 05 in St. Pauli in particular, but received a rejection.

If the development remains the same, Kyereh's path will inevitably lead to the Bundesliga sooner or later. The offensive man, who made his debut in the Ghana national team at the beginning of September as a reward for his good performance, would prefer to make the promotion with St. Pauli. Should the leap into the upper house not succeed this season, the coming summer promises excitement. Since Kyereh's contract expires in 2023, a fundamental decision then has to be made. An FC St. Pauli transfer would probably not be unlikely in this case, if there is no extension.

Because St. Pauli Kyereh, whose market value has long since reached the seven-digit range, certainly does not want to let go free of charge. If the return of spectators to the stadiums continues to develop positively and thus the economic power of the clubs increases again, one or the other lucrative offer could well flutter into the house.
