FC Tamale president call for restructuring of Division 2 league in Norther Region

The President of FC Tamale, Ibrahim Gagbun has called for the restructuring of the Division 2 League in the Northern Region as he notes that the addition of more clubs will worsen the chances of getting on board sponsorships.

Already having 50 clubs, it is understood that the Northern Regional RFA is adopting a new structure that could see the number of clubs increasing to around 75.

In a write up from Ibrahim Gagbun he has kicked against the move as he stressed that it will be doom for the Division 2 league if the numbers are increased.

Below is the full write-up from the President of FC Tamale:

Northern Region FA further worsens the potential of a sponsorship for its flagship league in the region, the second division League.

It saddens me to say the gerrymandering way clubs are been admitted into the second division is unfortunate. What was wrong yesterday remains wrong today.

We must re-write the mistakes of yesterday but not repeat them.

Unfortunately, that is what seems to be going on in this very highly hoped administration of Alhaji Rhyzo. It is like being in a train not knowing the destination.

How can we expand clubs in the second division to about 78 or thereabout?

How is that even possible, I want to believe  it is not true, even with the so call (50) 2nd division clubs , it was so difficult  getting some kind of sponsorship package to support clubs in the division.

How on earth can you get support for clubs at this outrageous numbers?

I particularly was very hopeful of this administration, but things have started sliding the wrong way and the hope is fast disappearing unfortunately.

This is a Terrible situation to be in . For all to work for the course of football in the northern region we must be able speak freely and express  contrary views, ideas  and opinions.

With Regards  to the 2nd division league, we must  restructure the league in the region to a proper league  base on internationally accepted form of domestic league and not this tournament leagues we have been playing over the years so that we are able to maximise the football and opportunity potentials of our young people.

For us to achieve this we must decentralized league. Tamale , North East ,Savana and Eastern corridor of which the league will merge at the semi-final stage and play home and away to determine who emerge as winners.

Not to restructure the league will be a crime beyond reprehensible.
