The research, engineered by bettingexpert, looked at the attacking attributes of the Swedish international and the current Burnley forwards, with league statistics for creative influence, goalscoring threat and hold-up play from the 2019/20 season.
In terms of creative freedom, Sean Dyche would usually look to his midfielders to be the creative force in the Burnley side. However, Quaison’s statistics reveal he could offer more than any of the current attacking options in this area.
The Stockholm-born 26-year-old created more chances-per-minute (93) than any Burnley striker last season and at least one more assist than any of the other forwards.
Last season, Burnley managed to score 43 goals across the Premier League season, and it was target man Chris Wood that led the way with an impressive 14 league goals and the best mins-per-goal, at every 175 minutes.
In the Bundesliga, Quaison managed to rack up an impressive 13 goals in a struggling Mainz side and the second-best in terms of mins-per-goal. One worry for Sean Dyche would be the wasteful attempts, the former Palermo striker has the second-lowest shots on target (39%), with Ashley Barnes the only forward to shoot off target more often.
One area that Burnley will be confident in for the new season, is the work-rate and hold-up play of the players selected upfront. The statistics show how valuable Barnes, Jay Rodriguez and Wood can be at winning aerial and ground battles. Each of the players won the ball from an opponent every nine mins-per-game.
It’s an area that Quaison would want to improve should he join the fast-paced Premier League. Quaison has the worst duel success rate of the five forwards and won only 27 aerial duals in 32 league games last season, compared with Wood’s 120.
