US Cremonese striker Felix Afena-Gyan was not included in Ghana's provisional squad for the u-23 Afcon.

The 20-year-old dominated the headlines for the wrong reasons after he turned down a call-up for the final round of qualifiers against Algeria.

Ghana however recorded a 2-1 aggregate scoreline to secure qualification for the tournament.

Black Meteors coach Ibrahim Tanko released the provisional squad today. The Black Meteors will depart Accra on Monday, June 12, 2023 for Cairo where they will camp for two weeks and engage in series of friendlies before the competition.

Ghana is in Group A, along with Morocco, Guinea, and Congo. The Black Meteors will open the competition against Congo on June 25, followed by games against Morocco and Guinea on June 27 and 30, respectively.

Group A matches will be held at Rabat’s Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex.

The first three nations will get their ticket for the Summer Olympics in 2024.

The tournament is scheduled to kick off from 24 June to 08 July 2023 in Morocco.
