FIFA/CAF COVID-19 Relief Fund: PFAG to use their share as insurance cover for Women’s Premier League

The Professional Football Association of Ghana (PFAG) Board of Directors have reached a decision to use their share of the FIFA/CAF COVID-19 Relief Fund as insure players in the Women’s Premier League.

The Ghana Football Association released the disbursement of coronavirus relief package to the football community last week.

The Ghana FA through the Executive Council decided that Ghana Women’s Premier League clubs will pocket $160,000 from the COVID-19 Relief Fund.

Each of the 16 top-flight clubs will get $10,000 whereas the 72 Women’s Division One Regional clubs will share $60,000 equally among themselves.

The PFAG has however decided to use its share of $2,000 as an insurance package for the players of Women’s Premier League and Division One League players.

The Head of Players Relations for PFAG, Yusif Alhassan Chibsah confirmed on Angel FM in Accra on Tuesday.

The Ghana FA has cancelled the 2019/2020 football season due to the coronavirus pandemic which has seen the government ban social gatherings for up to 31 July 2020.

The new season is tentatively scheduled to start in the second week of October this year.
