FIFA U17 WWC: Black Maidens to face Nigeria in final round of African qualifiers

Black Maidens will face their West African neighbours Nigeria in the final round of  African qualifiers for this year’s FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup.

Ghana thrashed Liberia in a 10-goal aggregate win to qualify for the next round of the 2020 FIFA U17 World Cup Qualifiers.

Black Maidens recorded a 2-0 victory over the Lonestars during the first leg encounter in Monrovia and their huge win will see them face the Flamingos of Nigeria in the next round of matches.

Ophelia Osei Amponsah bagged a brace in the 3rd minute before Salamatu Abdulai made it 3-0 in the 4th minute.

Amponsah registered her third and fourth goal in the 12th and 14th minutes respectively to add to her tally.

27 minutes into the second half, Midfielder Elizabeth Oppong drove in a spectacular long range shot to make it six for Ghana.

In the 64th minute, substitute Alice Sarpong converted from the penalty spot to make it 7-0 before Tracy Twum added the match winner in the 66th minute.

On the other hand, Nigeria walloped their counterparts from Guinea 5-1 at the Agege Stadium, Lagos on Saturday to make it to the final round of qualifiers.

The Black Maidens will host the Flamingos in the first leg encounter of the qualifiers in the first week of May.
