New Nottingham Forest striker Nicklas Bendtner has maintained he holds no regrets at onceaiming to be the best striker in the world.

As a promising youngster at Arsenal, Bendtner was tipped for big things after an impressive 2008-09 season, scoring nine Premier League goals in 31 league appearances. In an interview with Football Focus, Bendtner revealed his ambition of becoming one of the greatest strikers in the world.

However, it's safe to say that his career has not matched his lofty ambitions. He fell out of favour at Arsenal due to inconsistent formand off-field problems, andeventually left the club for free in 2014. Henownow finds himself at Championship side Nottingham Forest.

Bendtner still remains optimistic over his career prospects, although he did not reveal any further plans to rival the likes of Luis Suarez, Robert Lewandowski or Zlatan Ibrahimovic as one of the world's greatest strikers.

I pictured my career going in a different way, but it didn't," the former Juventus and Wolfsburg strikertold the Daily Mirror.

So I'm going to make the best out of the rest of my career and do the best I can. There are many goals I have set myself over the years. Many things I have said and been killed for.

I actually don't regret saying I want to be the best striker in the world, because that's what everyone wants. It's just that no one wants to say it.It has haunted me.

Bendtner revealed that part of his reasoning behind joining Forest was that his career needed a "reboot", and a successful Championship season could help reignite his career and help prove some of his doubters wrong.

"I was very young and I might have said it too early, before I'd proved I was in that category “ or could get in that category. But I'm here now and I want to reboot, and get back to just playing.

"I am not saying I have never done anything wrong, because I have. But I know football makes me happy whatever level I play and I think I'll play football all my life."
