Former Black Stars head coach Avram Grant is being considered among a couple of top coaches to replace the departing manager of Newcastle United, Rafa Benitez, reports have revealed.

The English Premier League side has confirmed that manager Rafael Benitez will leave the club when his contract expires on 30 June after spending three seasons with them.

A statement from the Magpies revealed, “We have worked hard to extend Rafa's contract over a significant period of time”.

“However, it has not been - and will not be - possible to reach an agreement with Rafa and his representatives”

“Rafa's coaching staff, Paco de Míguel Moreno, Antonio Gomez Perez, and Mikel Antia, will also leave the club on 30 June”.

“We would like to thank Rafa and his coaching team for their efforts over the last three years and their significant contribution to what has been collectively achieved”.

“We would also like to thank our supporters, players, and staff for their patience during a period of uncertainty”.

“The process to appoint a successor will now begin”.

In line with that, it appears the club has already listed a number of coaches who could potentially fill in the shoes of the formal Liverpool tactician.

One of such coaches is Avram Grant who has Premier League experience under his belt, having Coach Chelsea FC in the past.

If Avram Grant lands the managerial job, he will link up with Christian Atsu who he coached during his time as head coach for the Black Stars.
