Former Germany Star Tells Mesut Ozil to 'Return Home for Silverware' as Contract Saga Rumbles On

There has been a lot of media coverage surrounding the current contract situation between Mesut Ozil and Arsenal.

Playmaker Ozil's current deal runs out in the summer of 2018 and Arsenal are struggling to come to an agreement with the player so far.

Now, as first reported via German newspaper Sport Bild, former Chelsea player and German legend Michael Ballack feels a return home is Ozil's best option ahead of the two sides meeting next week in Champions League last 16.

"Mesut is an amazing player. He knows he is one of the undisputed stars at Arsenal and a lot of clubs would love to have him."

Many clubs would be very interested in Ozil and offers would not be in short supply however Ballack feels if Bayern were to make an offer Ozil should not refuse.

"If he wants to win a major title, he has a bigger chance to achieve that at Bayern."

Despite the pressure both English and Chinese football has put on the transfer market with inflated transfer fees, Ballack feels Bayern will be more than willing to compete financially:

"It seems inevitable that Bayern will soon pay 50 million euros or so. They have to if you want to keep competing with the best."

"If they want to bring in a world-class player, you will have to invest."
