Former Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan open to coaching Kotoko after unsuccessful playing dream

Ghana legend Asamoah Gyan is open to coaching Asante Kotoko in the future following an unsuccessful playing dream.

The former Black Stars forward previously expressed desire to play for the Ghanaian giants before retirement but it never materialized.

Gyan, who is Ghana’s all-time leading scorer with 51 goals and also the highest African scorer in World Cup history ended up playing for Legon Cities during the 2021/22 season to mark his return to the domestic football for the first time since 2003 when he left Liberty Professionals for greener pastures.

Having missed out the chance to play for Kotoko, the former Sunderland star in an interview with UTV monitored by Footballghana.com said he will gladly accept Kotoko’s coaching job in the future in only he is into coaching.

When asked about the possibility of coach Kotoko in the future, he expressed readiness to accept the job provided he pursues a coaching career.

“Why not? I will gladly accept Kotoko’s coaching job if I’m into coaching” he said.

The former Black Stars captain has already secured his UEFA B coaching license, meaning he is qualified to take on a coaching job.

Gyan, since announcing his retirement from football has been embarking on a lot of projects including the All Regional Games, which has been slated for November 2024.

The former Black Stars skipper is the leader of Dr. Bawumia’s manifesto committee ahead of the 2024 general elections.
