Former Ghana FA spokesperson Ibrahim Sannie-Daara wants local players’ inclusion in the Black Stars ahead of the World Cup despite refusing to back quota system.

In an interview with Accra-based Asempa FM, the Senior CAF media officer was of the opinion the quota system will not create competition in the national team.

But according to him, the inclusion of some local players in the team will help raise the standard of the Ghana Premier League.

“For me, I’m into the quota system because it does not create competition for the team but out of strategy and for many other reasons, in my opinion, we should include one or two players in the Black Stars. At the World Cup stage, players who play including substitutes will be 15”

“Including one or two players in the Black Stars will also help the gravity of the local league. In my opinion, some local players making up the World Cup squad will let people know worldwide that there is something good in our league”

Meanwhile, the biggest soccer mundial has been scheduled for November and December this year, with 32 countries set to battle it out for the covetous trophy in Qatar.

Ghana has been housed in Group H at the mundial against Portugal, Uruguay and South Korea.

The West African powerhouse will open their World Cup account against Portugal on November 24 before taking on Uruguay and South Korea respectively.
