Former Kotoko forward Eric Bekoe backs Frank Mbella to break Ishmael Addo’s goal record in Ghana Premier League

Former Asante Kotoko Eric Bekoe has backed Frank Mbella to break Ishmael Addo’s goal record in the Ghana Premier League.

The Cameroonian striker has been outstanding in the ongoing domestic top-flight campaign scoring 17 goals.

He was on target when Kotoko suffered a 2-1 defeat to Real Tamale United at the Aliu Mahama Stadium on Sunday.

The consolation goal he scored means he has equaled the 17 goals scored by Eric Bekoe to win the goal king in the 2007/08 season for Asante Kotoko.

Mbella is 5 goals away from equaling Ishmael Addo’s goal record in the Ghana Premier League.

The former Hearts of Oak striker 22 goals to win goal king and it is the highest goal record in the Ghana Premier League in a season.

In an interview with Original FM, the former Kotoko forward has backed Mbella to break Addo’s record.

“I will congratulate Mbella for equaling my goal record in the league. I wanted to break Ishmael Addo’s record but I couldn’t so I am throwing my weight behind Mbella to break it” he told Original FM monitored by Footballghana.com.

Asante Kotoko sit top of the table with 52 points despite defeat in Matchday 25 of the campaign.
