Former Liberty Professionals striker Latif Atta Blessing is gaining more praises from the Major League soccer after Sporting Kansas City teammate Matt Besler credited the young sensation for his role in the club’s first silverware of the season.

Blessing scored as the club went on to win the Lamar Hunt U.S Open trophy on Wednesday against the New York Red Bulls.

The Ghanaian has been a key part of the club since joining from Ghana Premier League side Liberty Professionals last season.

Defender Matt Besler, who couldn’t hide his admiration for the striker spoke of how important Blessing was to the club in winning the trophy.

“Latif [Blessing], Gerso, Diego [Rubio] and Daniel [Salloi], all the guys up top were threats all game long in behind and out wide,” he said in a post-game interview.

“They played a big role for us. Before the game, we talked about being tough to play against, being good defensively and when the times present themselves someone stepping up and making a play.

“It just so happened those were young guys for us. Credit to them and they deserve a lot of accolades that they are going to get for this game.”

Latif Blessing could not finish the game after picking a knock, but will be examined in the coming days to determine the extent of the injury. The forward has been a key player for the club.
