Former Premier League Star Says Roberto Firmino Was Played Out of Position Against West Ham

Kevin Kilbane believes Liverpool attacker Roberto Firmino was ineffective during the club's 2-2 draw against West Ham because he was played out of position.

The Brazilian was deployed wide left by Jurgen Klopp in a 4-3-3 formation to accommodate Divock Origi playing in a central striking role.

However, the Brazilian - who has been excellent this season - failed to register a shot on target and looked lost on the flank at times, his influence in the final third paling in comparison to Sadio Mane and Origi, who bagged his fourth goal in as many games.

We haven't seen enough for Firmino today, Kilbane said on BBC Radio 5 Live's coverage of the game.

We spoke about Coutinho being out, and has that had a knock on effect with him being out the side?

Does it suit Firmino out on this left-hand side? He hasn't looked as good as he usually does when he plays centrally.

Liverpool dropped two precious points at home to the Hammers after starting brilliantly thanks to Adam Lallana's fifth-minute strike.

The result leaves them seven points behind leaders Chelsea and with more ground lost in the title race, Klopp may face an increasing number of uncomfortable questions in his press conferences, namely concerning Loris Karius, after the goalkeeper's latest error - failing to keep out Dimitri Payet's free-kick in the first-half.
