Former Swansea City Boss Brian Flynn Returns to Club as Part of the Scouting Team

Published on: 30 November 2016

Former Swansea City manager Brian Flynn has rejoined the club as a part of their scouting team.

The 61-year-old is well remembered in south-Wales for his time in charge in 2003, which saw Swansea stay in the Football League against all odds.

And with Flynn joining the Swans again, he hopes to be part of yet another survival scalp, as Swansea attempt to steer clear of the relegation zone.

I am excited to be back and I am looking forward to trying to do my bit to make sure we maintain our Premier League status, Flynn told Swansea's officialwebsite.

If I can play a small part in keeping us safe, I will be delighted. I hope that in time, I will be able to play huge part in the club's success.

I am certain that we can get ourselves up the table because there is quality in the squad.

We need to add to the squad, but I am sure that between us, we can achieve our targets for the rest of the season.

Flynn joins the club after spending two years at Goodison Park, where he was a part of Roberto Martinez's scouting team.

He will now work underhead of recruitment David Leadbeater, and will be tasked with bringing in both young and experienced players, as Swansea aim to secure Premier League survival.

Flynn was known as having a keen eye for top talent during his time at Swansea in 2003, bringing in the likes ofMartinez, Lee Trundle, Alan Tate, Leon Britton and Andy Robinson, all on free transfers.

They were players who came in and made an impact, and that's what you want from a new signing, Flynn added.

I hope to make a difference now by helping the club find players who can come in make an impact at Premier League level.

I believe I can do that because I know what Swansea City want. I know the way things are done at Swansea, I know the method and I know which players will fit in at the club.
