Amankwah's journey with RB Salzburg began in the winter transfer window of 2021, where he had to go out of the club before returning.

After starting with the U18 team of the Red Bull Salzburg and a loan spell at SCR Altach and Liefering, he returned to RB Salzburg, accumulating a total of 25 appearances, four goals, and three assists.
