French league block Ghanaian players from joining Black Stars

The French leagues 1 and 2 have agreed to block the travel of any foreign players to join their national teams.

This decision affects African, European and Asian countries as most of their star players play in this league.

Therefore, Akonnor will not be allowed to call the likes of John Boye, Daniel Lomotey and Nicholas Opoku for the AFCON qualifiers.

“The clubs will not make available to the selections the foreign players summoned for matches outside the EU / EEA zone (European Union and European Economic Area, during the next international period in March.”

Ghana will face South Africa and Sao Tome and Principe in the AFCON qualifiers this March.
