Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic wants to play for Sweden in the World Cup, it has been revealed.

RMC in France are reporting friends close to Ibrahimovic say he wants to be part of Sweden's World Cup campaign after their stunning playoff victory over Italy this week.

Ibrahimovic retired from international football after last year's Euros and played no part in Sweden's qualifying campaign. However, members of his entourage admit he is now discussing the prospect of returning to the Sweden squad.

Having recovered from an April knee injury, there is talk of Ibrahimovic making the bench for United's clash with Newcastle United tomorrow.
