Gabi and Juanfran are set to sign new deals with Atletico Madrid.
Cadena Ser says the 34-year-old midfielder has a verbal agreement with the club to continue until June 2019, and only minor details of the new arrangement have yet to be ironed out.
Gabi isn't the only senior member of the squad who will be handed a new deal.
Atlético also plan to offer Juanfran a one-year contract extension. Both Juanfran and Atlético agree that a one-year extension would suit both parties.
