Gael Clichy Desperate to Remain in 'Home Away From Home' Even if Given the Boot by Manchester City

Manchester City left-back Gael Clichy is reportedly desperate to remain in English football if Pep Guardiola decides to release him of his duties as the veteran defender's contract expires in June, as reported byThe Sun.


With no contract extension talks being apparent, Clichy has already been contacted by a number of clubs back in France and also in Italy, but the 31-year old Frenchman believes that despite his age, he is still suited for the Premier league 14 years after first playing in the league with Arsenal.

AnEtihad source said the following about Clichy's Manchester City future:


Gael wants to stay in England if he can. He's out of contract this summer and he's not expected to stay.


The boss likes him as a character and a player but he is one of the old brigade now in the firing line to be replaced by younger blood.


He has a young family here. There has been interest in him from France. He still believes he has something to offer the Prem.


It's familiar surroundings here for him and his family. He has been here for a long time now and knows the country well.�


Meanwhile Pep Guardiola is believed to be eager to lure away one of David Alaba or Juan Bernat from his former employers Bayern Munich in attempt to bring in younger talent in the left-back position as Serbian internationalAleksandar Kolarov is also 31-years old.
