Cristiano Ronaldo's phenomenal 2016 was capped off on Monday as he was rightfully crowned this year's Ballon d'Or winner.
The Portuguese's fourth title was just reward for a player who has won two European championships in the same year - one domestically with Real Madrid and another with his national Portugal side.

But whilst CR7 seems to be the cream of the crop in just about everything at the moment, his Los Blancos teammate Gareth Bale has suggested that there is another player at the Bernanbeu who can at least run as fast as the Ballon d'or winner.
When asked byGoal.comwho the quickest player at Real Madrid was, Bale replied: "The quickest player? Apart from me? [Raphael] Varane or Ronaldo."
In fairness, although Varane's mentionmay have surprised some, he has previously shown in the past that he is more than capable of sharp turn of speed.
The Frenchman recently beat Borussia Dortmund's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in a footraceduring a recent Champions League group match.
Whilst Ronaldo may not agree with Bale's verdict, it's unlikely he will care too much after the events of the last few days.
At least it proves he is human after-all.
