Belgium Pro League side KRC Genk is reportedly laying the groundwork for an ambitious swap deal.

The Belgian club is said to be eyeing Southampton's Nigerian striker, Paul Onuachu, as a valuable addition to their lineup. In a surprising twist, Genk is rumored to be considering including Joseph Paintsil as part of the deal, a decision that could potentially reshape the dynamics of both teams.

The Nigerian striker was sold to Southampton for 20 million euros in January. KRC Genk does not have the money to buy Paul Onuachu outright from the Saints.

Paul Onuachu has no desire to play in the English second tier. Southampton's new coach is seeking a different style of attacking player. Transfer expert Sacha Tavolieri believes Joseph Paintsil might be involved in a swap.

Paintsil is under contract with The Saints in Genk, Onuachu until mid-2026. Their market worth is comparable. Joseph Paintsil, 25, had previously been loaned to Ankaragücü. He made significant progress under the direction of Wouter Vrancken.
