George Amoako admits Kotoko’s negligence to deal with Clottey’s case is causing club to face wrath of FIFA

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Kumasi Asante Kotoko, George Amoako has admitted that negligence on the part of the club to deal with the transfer of Emmanuel Clottey is what has caused FIFA to instruct them to pay $240,000.

The Porcupine Warriors signed Clottey from Esperance de Tunis in 2015 but got into trouble subsequently. For their penalty, they were asked to pay $180,000 dollars to the Tunisian giants.

What later became a legal tussle between Kotoko and Esperance never concluded as it gradually died out.

Fast forward to 2019, the Tunisians signed Kwame Bonsu from Asante Kotoko for $150,000. They, however, refused to pay the fee to Kotoko while arguing that the Ghanaian club rather owes them with regards to the Clottey sale.

The case became big and landed at the doorsteps of FIFA who has now ruled that Kotoko is guilty and is to pay $240,000 as its penalty.

Speaking to Light FM on the latest ruling from FIFA, CEO of Kotoko George Amoako has accepted that all this has become possible because of their negligence to deal with the Emmanuel Clottey transfer issue.

With Kotoko having up to May 10, 2020, to pay the money, they are calling on fans who have the resources to come to the aid of the club.

Failure to pay the money will result in an additional punishment that will land the Reds in Division One.
