George Boateng starts preseason with Coventry City in preparation for new Championship season

Published on: 03 July 2024

Former Ghana Assistant Coach George Boateng has officially begun his role as a first-team coach at Coventry City.

The English Championship club announced Boateng's appointment on Monday, and he has wasted no time in getting to work, joining the team for preseason preparations ahead of the upcoming season.

Boateng, who previously served as the Individual Development Coach at Wolves, has joined Coventry alongside Rhys Carr. The duo will work under the guidance of Coventry Manager Mark Robins.

Having previously worked as Assistant Coach of the Black Stars from May 2022 to January 2023, Boateng brings valuable experience to his new role.

He was part of the coaching staff during the 2022 World Cup and the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Born in Ghana but having played for the Netherlands at the international level, Boateng's appointment adds further diversity to Coventry City's coaching staff.

Boateng's arrival at Coventry City follows his dismissal as Ghana Assistant Coach in February after a disappointing Africa Cup of Nations campaign.

He now looks forward to contributing to the success of the English Championship side.
