Germany's World Cup winning manager Joachim Low has reportedly extended his contract with Der Mannschaft, extending his current deal until 2020.

According to a tweet by German publication Bild, Low is set to shake off criticism in the wake of his side's failure to win Euro 2016, and manage them for the next two major tournaments: the 2018 World Cup in Russia, as well as Euro 2020.

Low saw his side eliminated in the semi-finals of the European Championships for the second successive time, and faced questions over his future in the wake of Germany's limp exit at the hands of host nationFrance at Euro 2016.

With expectations at a level England can only dream of, there were calls for Low to step aside, but he has ridden out the criticism, and guided Germany to three wins from their three World Cup 2018 qualifiers thus far, in which they have scored eight goals without reply.

Since taking over from Jurgen Klinsmann, ten years ago, Low has never failed to take Germany to at least the semi-final stage in the five major tournaments he has overseen.

Having experiencedthree semi-final defeats anda Euro 2008 final defeat at the hands of Spain, winning the World Cup in 2014, with a 1-0 extra-time win over Argentina, remains Low's greatest achievement, immortalising him in German football folklore.
