GFA boss Kwesi Nyantakyi insists he will step down at the end of his current tenure

Head of Ghana’s football Association, Mr. Kwesi Nyantakyi says he will not seek re-election at the end of his current mandate.

The astute football administrator who doubles up as the Confederation of African Football’s first Vice President revealed he was not going to contest for office at the end of his tenure, which is in 2019.

Having assumed office in 2005, Mr. Nyantaky led the country to three successive world Cup and his tenure has seen many developments for Ghana Football including the FIFA projects at the Ghanaman Soccer Center of Excellence in Pampram.

However, after all these years in office, the President of Ghana football has decided to step down in 2019.

“Somehow somewhere I will quit. I believe that the time will come that I will have to put down my tools and take off my boots.

“I have announced already that after the end of my tenure I will not seek re-election,” Nyantakyi said on Joy News Upfront Show yesterday.

Kwesi Nyantakyi helped Ghana host the Africa Cup of Nations in 2008 and under his time Ghana won her first World Cup at the U-20 level.
