The Club Licensing Department of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has approved only four pitches ahead of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season.
This emerges following their preliminary round of inspection ahead of the new football season.
Following the inspection which was carried out in August 2024, the Dr Kwame Kyei Sports Complex, Nsenkyire Sports Arena, Dun's Park, and WAFA Park were the only stadiums that met all necessary infrastructure standards.
The new TNA Stadium, a 13,000-capacity facility that cost $16 million, is still waiting for full approval despite its recent opening. The reason for this is the absence of an inner perimeter, which is a requirement for full accreditation.
This issue is not unique to the TNA Stadium, as the country's two largest stadiums, Baba Yara Stadium and Accra Sports Stadium, are also awaiting full accreditation because they are on a conditional approval list.
Other venues which did not meet the standard of the Club Licensing have received a report detailing what needs to be done to meet the required standard.
Venues hosting the Ghana Premier League will undergo a re-inspection on August 30th, 2024 before the new football campaign kicks off.
This inspection aims to address any existing issues and potentially grant full approval for the upcoming season.
Meanwhile, the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League has been scheduled to kick off on September 6.
