GFA Communications Director Henry Asante Twum charges clubs to do more to win fans back to stadia

Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association [GFA], Henry Asante Twum has called on clubs in the country to do more to win their fans back to the stadia.

Fans have failed to show up in their numbers at various venues in the ongoing 2022/23 Ghana Premier League campaign.

With some attributing the challenge to the country's football governing body, Asante Twum believes it is the responsibility of the club to ensure their fans are at the stadium during matchday.

"I know attendance in the ongoing season has been a challenge because I have been a witness to it," he said on Asempa FM.

"You cannot entirely blame the Ghana Football Association because it is not our responsibility to get fans at the stadium.

"Two seasons ago, Legon Cities were filling the Accra Sports Stadium. Karela United were also doing that Ayinase but they have stopped.

"I don't recall the last time Hearts of Oak engaged their fans in any events but if we want the fans back to the various venues, we have to make them feel that they are part of the club.

"The clubs must ensure these things are done and not the Ghana Football Association," he added.
