GFA confirms MND Jawula will chair new premier league committee

Footballghana.com can report that the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has named former GFA Chairman, Lepowura MND Jawula as the new Chairman of a Premier League Management Committee.

The veteran football administrator is set to head a new seven-member committee made up of Jesse Agyapong, a marketing consultant as his vice.

The new GFA has decided that the old system where all Premier League clubs had representatives on the League’s Management Committee (then called Premier League board) will be a thing of the past.

Hence they have adopted a system where the Executive Council will nominate two representatives, who will be the Chairman and Vice-Chairman respectively.

Then the eighteen Premier League clubs will nominate the remaining five members of the Premier League Management Committee.

With Lepowura M.N.D. Jawula and Jesse Agyapong already chosen by the GFA’s Exco, the GPL clubs are expected to nominate the remaining 5 representatives in the next couple of days to complete the committee.

According to the GFA, the League Management Committee will serve a one-year term with the GFA set to engage Premier League Clubs towards consenting to an autonomous league.

Meanwhile, it is understood that the starting date for the new season has been pushed from December 21 to December 28, 2019.
